AELC INNOVATION CLUB MEETINGS

2010

Next Event

Monday 8th March

Danielle Ferry

Taking it one cookie at a time

Danielle Ferry, Director of The Cookie Barrel does not believe in the saying “That’s the way the cookie crumbles!” She is an eternal optimist much to the annoyance of those around her and is now an even greater believer in the saying “Every Cloud has a Silver Lining”.

Danielle has learnt many valuable lessons along the way and is keen to share with other business owners the highs and lows of a rapidly expanding business, the pros and cons of expansion and the importance of work/life balance. Something that she and her partner (who now works in the business too) have both achieved in the past year.

Where: Westpac Building, Perth

When: 5.45pm

More information

This year we are moving to the Westpac Building in the city starting with our February event. This is a fantastic move for us as I am sure you will agree. We will be starting earlier as well so people can come straight from work. In 2010 we have a celebrity Food Designer, Head of the Angel Investors Association of Australia, a peak into the future of Nanotechnology and much more.

Focusing on Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Welcome to the AELC Innovation Club

Attendees at a monthly club meeting, networking and discussing topics presented by speakers such as Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Social Enterpreneurship and Business Startup Welcome to the AELC Innovation Club. We aim to bring together people and organisations of all types who wish to encourage, foster and build capability in innovation and entrepreneurship. We provide networking opportunities and the chance to meet successful business people.

Areas covered by our club speakers and contributors include:

We initially named this the ‘AELC Entrepreneurs Club’. So,many of our clients thought it meant starting your own business or small business development. Although this may be a potential result of an Entrepreneur Club it is not our focus. For that reason we have decided to rename it the ‘AELC Innovation Club’

Research has shown categorically that for organisations to start and grow successfully they must develop and manage new ideas. To do this you need to hear how other people have developed their businesses or areas and take those learnings to your own workplaces and lives.

The speakers we have are of a really high calibre. The cost to attend is very low. Past speakers include Penny Flett, West Australian of the Year, Ros Worthington OAM and Leanne Wesche 2008 National Telstra Business Woman. We have had Rick Hart the MD of Rick Hart Group and Barbara Etter, Assistant Commissioner of Police, just to name a few.

Innovation Management

Fostering and managing innovation is what will help our companies deal with the fallout from the global financial crisis. I highly recommend that everyone takes the opportunity to attend these forums. Take a moment to join the mailing list for all upcoming events. You won’t regret it.

Entreperwhat???

A definition from Wickipedia: An entrepreneur is a person who has possession of a new enterprise, venture or idea and assumes significant accountability for the inherent risks and the outcome.

Nowhere does it say you have to have a University degree or be a highly trained expert in a particular field. Vision, passion and street smarts have seen the successful rise of many a self made success story. Great English skills are optional too. So if you find yourself on this site because you typed in Entepeneur, Enterpreneur, Enterpreneurship or Entrepreneurship, WELCOME! Come on in and learn something valuable that they wouldn't teach you in Uni anyway.
